Holiday Scents

What's that smell?

Okay, let's be honest, that question can be taken in two completely different ways. If you live with, or have lived with teenage boys, then you know this to be all too true. Luckily today I'm talking of things that smell good.

What's your scent? Is there a particular scent that you use during the Holidays? Something that just speaks to you and says "Christmas time"? I'd really like to hear your thoughts.

For me, it's Holiday Sage from Yankee Candle. Yummy. That's all I can say. How I came across this smell, it's a mystery. But I've been using this particular scent for quite a few years. Every year when it's time to decorate for Christmas, I light a Holiday Sage candle and turn on Nat "King" Cole singing The Christmas Song. It's a tradition that sets the mood when I first start decorating. After that point, it's the only scent that I really use. Every now and then, I do use a pine scent, but it's always with the Holiday Sage, not instead of it. Strange, I know.

One year I couldn't find this luscious smelling candle, something about the producer of the scent not having it, or something. Vague, I know, because the only thing I heard at that point was, "blah, blah, blah". Inside my head, a voice was screaming. "How dare you not have MY scent for the Holiday!!!! Well now what?!! What am I supposed to do?!!" Not to worry, I didn't have to be dragged kicking and screaming from the store, knocking over displays on my way out. That's where TJ Maxx and Home Goods saved the day. They carried a retired scent by Yankee Candle called Sage. Guess what? It was the exact same candle scent as Holiday Sage, but without the Holiday "look" to it. I also scoured eBay that year looking for fragrance tarts. Pictured below are the retired scents, and they are available at Amazon, which is where these pictures are from and they link back to the Amazon page.

Since that one year, I have turned into a bit of a hoarder when it comes to this scent. When I find it, I purchase extra, and then pack it away with the Christmas decorations. Just in case the next year it's not available. This year I picked up 4 large jar candles (buy 2 get 2 free coupon) and will probably go back for more. Also when the candles are spent. I take the remaining wax out of the bottoms of the jar and use it in tart warmers. Use every last bit.

What about you? What's your favorite Holiday Scent?

Thank you for visiting. Please come back soon.
